Forming a Habit

I read somewhere that you could form a habit by doing something 21 times in a roll. This works for both good as well as bad habits. I have enough bad habit so I decided to start a good habit. I am trying to take a walk each day. I figured the best way to make this work was to get our dogs Molly and Anna involved, it took only one walk. Now, just like clockwork, each morning they are both waiting for me at the back door eager for our daily walk.  So off we go.
I just love this time of year, walking down our road is like taking a nature hike. You never know what you might see.  I am always amazed at the determination of the wildflowers that are just now starting to bloom. Today I noticed wild iris that had managed to push their leaves out of a bed of rocks that had been piled at the side of the road the last time our road was graded. Wild Ferns, which remind me of Boston Ferns, are one of my favorites. They are scatter all along the road side, as well as along the wet weather creek flowing below our pond. Phlox of white, pink and purple push their way through the leaves in front of an old rock wall neatly stack by a homesteader many years ago. Then there were the white iris, daffodil, and yucca plants where an old home site once stood.Farther down the road I noticed water pooling along the side of the road where a spring had opened up during all the rain we have received. The water was meandering its way to the river on the other side of the road.  Molly loves the water and takes every opportunity to a drink in every pool she finds along the walk.
