The Footing is Poured

As promised the concrete trucks arrived early Thursday morning ready to start our day. As soon as one truck was emply another truck drove up the road. I wasn't sure how in the world they were going to pass each other, all I can say is they are good! Somehow they managed. The concrete was poured and the guys did their jobs smoothing it out. The footing is now poured and in the process of drying.Later Tursday afternoon

And So It Begins

July 25, 2011 - Builders arrived along with a backhoe to start our renovation project, a new space for Mom. Monday was filled with dropping trees, removing stumps, and moving the carport with the backhoe and a tractor.

George worked most of the evening cutting and removing the fallen trees (2 hickory's and 2 dogwoods) in order to be ready for Tuesday's work.

July 26, 2011 - Early Tuesday morning Randall and Ron with help of a chain saw and a backhoe dropped the last tree, the tall hickory just outside the back bedroom window.

Ron removed the stump and helped Randall remove the deck Randall dug the footing for Mom's new addition.                                      Nick came Tuesday evening to help George cut and remove the hickory that was dropped today.

July 27, 2011 - Randall returned today with two young men to prepare the footing in hopes of getting cement. They trimmed the roots that remained in the dug footing and  positioned the rebar to get ready for the cement. Unfortunately the cement will have to wait until tomorrow bright and early, in hopes that it will be a little cooler.
